View In Room technology
I'd love it if Zenfolio could implement a "View In Room" feature to image galleries whereby a client could select an image and view how it would look on an actual wall in an actual room at various sizes and with various framing options.
Exactly what what ART.COM does now - check out the "Room View" showcase used by ART.COM.
It has a collection of different interior rooms (living rooms, dining rooms, bedrooms, kids rooms, bathrooms, kitchens, etc.) and any image that is selected from their site can then be viewed in various sizes and frames in the various rooms! It is brilliant.
How cool would it be for zenfolio clients (photographers) to be able to offer that to our clients??? To have them view their photo gallery with an option to see how each image would look in actual rooms?!?! To show them just how small and inadequate an 8x10 print is on an actual wall - bump it up to a 24x36! To view their images with the various framing options - or as a canvas or foto float - in actual rooms! This is a photographer's dream sales tool!!!!
This idea needs to be implemented asap. No photographer could resist this incredible upselling tool!!!!

This feature would definitely help promote and increase my landscape photography sales. I could do away with creating demo sized wall decor as examples to show to potential clients which in turn save me money.

Maybe the name of this feature should be called: Wall Projection Technology to Sell Large Prints
More people may find it when searching. :)

I think this feature would be awesome! If the features of this app could be built in our Zenfolio sites, we could see more large prints.
I would hope that at Zenfolio they would be concerned to stay up with the latest trends for providing us the tools we need for our customers/clients to have a quick, easy and rewarding experience on our website. One of these features that is very popular is the "Room View" where the client can see the options of the image they're interested in on an interior wall, (Living Room, Dining Room, Bedroom, Restaurant, Lobby, etc) with the ability to change the wall color to the color on their own wall. It would also allow the customer to simply change the size of the print, thus providing the opportunity to upsell simply and quickly without the need to start all over again in the ridiculous "Customize" where if one has selected and image, opted to frame and mat it, added non glare glass then decides to change the size, they have to then start the whole process over again. There's very few POD sites that are not using the "View On Wall" technology. ArtPal and Crated, both free sites are using it, Art.Com, Art Storefronts and many others as well. As artists/Photographers, we need to be very concerned about making it as easy as possible for our customers/clients shopping experience. It's unfortunate that when I meet with a client to sell my work, I have to use my ArtPal site instead of my much more professional looking Zenfolio site all because there's no "Room View" available on Zenfolio to use.
There is a tremendous value in this, even free websites ie. ArtPal and Crated among others are using this feature with great results along with the pricey Art Storefronts. Not only to see what you're buying hung on a wall but also the ability to simply change the print to a larger size thus being a great tool for upselling to a customer and the ease of changing the size of the print and frame without starting all over in the process of "customizing". The other plus is the ability to change the wall color, also a great tool for interior designers to use. I would love to use this tool from my Zenfolio site when I meet with a prospective client and show them how my framed photo would look on one of their walls, in whatever room, with the color of their wall, instead I have to show them using ArtPal which is not as classy of a look. There's no doubt that Zenfolio is a great place for portfolios but I think the "customer experience" here is extremely lagging and way behind the times and trends of todays market. Their shopping cart is also in need of being updated, way to much effort for many of today's shoppers. The fact that when I go to order a framed print, then decide to change the size and have to start all over again totally sucks and it doesn't work like this on any other site I've ever seen, I'm sure I've lost many sales as a result of this. Because Zenfolio's lacking in this area of making it easier for the customers we have to purchase our products, I'm strongly considering biting the bullet and going with the costlier but much more efficient and up to date Art Storefronts web site for my business.
I agree! This is a great up-sell tool. Good for both photographers AND Zenfolio. I'm really surprised that so few people have responded to this idea.
LOVE THIS!!!!! A MUST
