a ONE TIME ONLY Download option!
I offer a free download to each of my clients as part of their upfront session fee. In order to keep track of the downloading their ONE free session right now I have to approve all orders to keep tabs, which I'd rather not do. It would be nice for the download to have a setting for "one time only" instead of unlimited. Suggestions welcome!

Hi ! I also offer photo sessions including limited number of photos, and when the client goes to the gallery, I would like him to have the possibility to download for free the amount of photos he already paid for by purchasing the photo session, OR he could purchase the entire gallery if he likes the photos.
My problem now is that there's no COUPON to offer a certain a number of pictures, but only money. And there is no ONE TIME option for a download product, so if I set for example 10 pictures for free, he can download the entire gallery by purchasing this free product several times...
Is there something I did not see ?

There are so many valid comments on this post. In this day and age, This should have been something that was included in the digital downloads when the feature was included. As photographers, we need more items to be as automated as possible.

I've been waiting on this, too. Dear Zenfolio, why would this be such a difficult option to add? The original post is dated 2011. It seems like something that could have been created in the past 8 years....

Yup, it's 2019, would love to offer only specified number of downloads from a gallery, without sending a coupon code! Any news on how or when this can happen?

Hi guys!! I desperately need this!!! I offer clients a certain amount of complimentary digital files as part of their session fee. How can I allow them a free download like this (a one time only product listing on their checkout), and then allow them to pay for additional digital downloads? It seems so clunky that this is not already in effect? I can't expect my clients to accept their free digital files via a dropbox link as it doesn't look very professional when their entire gallery is all in the one place? I'd like to offer them a professional, convenient and easy shopping experience ... I'm thinking of other options for them and I'm cringing at them :/ /would love to hear a solution for this guys please?

Yes, me too. I would love to be able to allow selected people downloads, rather than unlock the entire gallery, or the photo.
I can't believe this isn't already a feature.

ABSOLUTELY A MUST! Digital delivery is becoming huge.
Would also love a 1 time "download all" secure link (for example, in "my account" settings, under each gallery, have the option to "generate 1 time digital download link of complete collection" - so we can copy and paste that link into an email to the paying client.
Right now I have to upload a separate ftp version of the collection, then setup a secure, 1 time download on my end, which is a pain.
I'd much rather use Zenfolio as my complete digital solution. I want the paying client to receive 1 digital download of each photograph, and I want their friends and family to pay for the copy they want.
Please please please Zenfolio add this feature!!!

If this helps for the time being....I do receive an email notification when a client downloads their gallery. (I offer clients for certain sessions the print release. If they purchased this, then they pay for it at the session (so no fee goes to Zen). I receive an email when a client downloads one or more images. I then can go back to their gallery and turn off the download feature. Clients book their sessions directly through my site as well as additional add-ons. If you want to see an example, pretend to book a session to see what I mean and just delete the info right before paying. www.violetlacephotography.com

I already do this. My price is $9.99 per image, I include 1 image per $10 spent on the session fee ($300 session includes 30 images). When I create the coupon code, I set it to only digital downloads, $300 max and 1 time use.
I often shoot sports events where the entry fee includes a free download and the organizer pays me a flat fee. If I set the price of a small download to zero, anyone can download as many photos in that gallery as they like. I could use a coupon or a gift certificate, but that is for a percentage or a fixed amount and can be used for any product.
I would like clients to be able to download 10 images only of their choice as part of an intermediate package is this possible? (my high end package would allow all downloads)

Zenfolio, DO THIS! I and many people need this option.

I love Matt's idea. I, too, give all the images in a session and would like to allow the client to have the "free" download but have friends and family pay for the photos they want. It would also be nice to see how many times a file has been downloaded if I just open the gallery for anyone to download. I do a lot of free photos and send people to the website for downloading.
When you say up "front session fee", are you talking about a Zenfolio session or photog session? Reason I ask is, I'm considering asking Zenfolio about allowing a "gate" fee for people entering certain gallleries i.e $.99 to enter the gallery and then a free download! Nice idea.
I think this would even be better if you could restrict to a certain number of downloads (i.e. 1 or 4).

This would be the absolute most important feature Zenfolio could create. That way my clients could download their photos (as opposed to me sending a disc or USB drive), but their friends & family would have to order products.

A BIG YES - the ability to know who downloaded what and how many times an image or Gallery was downloaded would Very Helpful. Being Able to Set a LIMIT on the number of Downloads would provide convenince to the Customer and protect the Marketing of our images - without additional "detail"/delay both for the Customer and for the photographer.

I like this idea. Keeps things under wraps and then you can take it down off the site if you want after they download. Something to think about.
