Notify Photographers that Client has Selected Favorites, even if Client does not Share Favorites.
In addition to Photographers now being able to see Clients' Favorites without Client having to Notify Photog (nice change there), Photog's should ALSO be NOTIFIED (by email or otherwise) that Clients have Chosen Favorites - even if no Sharing has been done! Otherwise, Photogs might not know that Client Selected Favorites!
I just had a client ask me when I'd be providing the photos he'd chosen from my Zenfolio gallery. I replied that I need to know which ones they'd chosen. Client replied that they already "did the hearts" to choose them, however, I never received any notification from Zenfolio (not on dashboard, not via email, not in any way) that Client had chosen favorites.
BUT, I then researched online how to find what favorites Client had chosen, I looked in my "Shared Favorites" folder, and sure enough, there are two sets of Client Favorites from 1.5 WEEKS AGO!
A. WHY did Zenfolio NOT notify me that Client had selected Favorites (and, no, there is no option for that in Settings > Email Notifications!!!)?
B. WHY would Client Favorites be in a section called "Shared Favorites", when they had not went through the hidden convoluted indirect process (see below) of actually Sharing their favorites with Photographer (me)?
C. WHY is Sharing Favorites this hidden convoluted indirect process??:
1. (in Thumbnails) Hover pictures, then click appearing Hearts, OR (on Photo Page) Hover Pictures, Hover appearing "Menu" button, then click "Add to Favorites
2. sign up/login,
3. hover "Favorites: My Selection" (like they'd actually know to do that???),
4. click the "Edit My Selection from the drop down (like they'd think to click "Edit" if they're wanting to Share???),
5. click "Share Favorites" (as if they'd notice that top-right box???)(And it doesn't even say to Share with Photographer until it's clicked!!)
This needs fixing, please.
I've now kept Clients waiting 10 days because I didn't know Clients had chosen Favorites until now, and because Clients didn't think to click and hover on every possible combination on the webpage til they randomly came upon a button just generally suggesting to "Share Favorites".
That could cost me clients and/or future work.
Please fix right away.

Just had the same problem. No email notification that the client had selected or shared favorites. Please add this feature to the notifications options on my account!

Posting a comment just to give this even more of a boost - didn't realize this was a year old. Definitely agree that having a notification would make so much more sense! Thank you!
I voted 3 times for this I agree with it so much. And this comment is 1 year old...how is it not getting traction?

I vote! A few days ago I created a dummy client account for testing what a client sees when creating a set of favorites. After making a few selections while logged in to the dummy account I was happy to see a popup message telling the client, "Selected photos have been added to My Selection. Photos are automatically shared with the photographer. Click Favorites to view the set". I thought it was fantastic that I would receive a notification and was happy to see the client was told so. Of course I never received a notification ....

I would like the option to know, by email when someone "favorites" a photo. It would be super helpful for someone who isnt on the site every day.
I agree... with the addition that the favorites list of WHO HAS ORDERED - from that favorites list, and who has been messaged & emailed already. We - especially with the highest level business accounts - should be getting notice by default (unless we turn that notice off, which I can't image anyone would want to do - if they are actively working).
You can find the FAVORITES LIST - From your Zen login/Dashboard, Go to PHOTOS (at the top), then FAVORITES in the drop down... then look at the OTHER FAVORITES (toward the bottom).
Sadly, I have 12 pages of lists people have created, most haven't shared or said anything, just expecting me to 'know' they favorited those images. Some have ordered, some don't have a clue, thinking they will get a call or message or something... a couple have said something... which is how I stumbled upon this important information... just sitting their in Zen-hell-o.
People on mobile devices often don't see the SHARE BUTTON... but can heart away.
Downside, if they didn't create a valid login... that 'favorites list' listing is bogus and useless.
Upside (but a serious pain in the butt) is that you can click on the persons name, be taken to an email window... WITH VERY USEFUL INFORMATION BELOW THAT (when created, when emailed, IF they ordered... even their order number linked). This info should be in the 'listings' - so we can follow up with those that have NOT ordered yet. Not buried.
Also, we should be able to 'sort' by those that have ordered... and those that haven't. Those that have been emailed, and those that haven't. AND there should be a way to 'put notes' (private to the photog) on that favorites list... for our own reference & future follow up.
